Episode 29: Bruce Baker
On this episode I will sit down with Bruce Baker who is launching eighth season as Head Coach of the Columbia University Men’s Hockey. (Position previously held by Alexi Kasatonov). Learn about the balance between academics and sports, what is the most important trait that Bruce looks for when scouting for his team, how to overcome mistakes and injuries, hockey culture, and so much more.
Bruce’s resume also includes Ten years as a Head Coach of Riverbank State Park U18; five years as Head Coach of NYC ROOTS (U19) “tournament team” opportunity program. He also played in ECHL, AHL, Finland, and Russia.
Bruce is a teacher who, since 2009, has taught full-time at the Secondary level in the NYC Public School system (History, Math). He is proud to have aided hundreds of NYC kids on to college, many on to college hockey programs.
